Our students had a wonderful time with the Nutrition Program Associates from the Howell County MU Extension Office during summer school! Hilliary and Mia did an amazing job teaching our students about healthy eating, food safety, and essential food preparation skills.
Each lesson included a hands-on recipe that the children got to prepare-and enjoy! It was a fantastic learning experience that combined fun, food and valuable life skills.
A huge thank you to Hilliary and Mia for sharing your time, energy, and expertise with our kids. We appreciate you!

Our middle schoolers wrapped up their last day with an adventurous trip to Rocky Falls-swimming, fishing, and climbing made for a fun-filled day of memories. Thank you to all the parents for allowing your students to attend summer school with us. We've had a wonderful few weeks of learning and laughter, and we can't wait to see everyone back in August! Our middle school students have been hard at work combining creativity with math!
As part of a h ands on project, they designed and built castles using 3-D figures-then put their math skills to the test by calculating the volume of each section to determine the total volume of their creations.
From imagination to equations, these students showed fantastic creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork. Great job everyone!

What a fun and educational day for Mrs. Dixon's class as they stepped back in time during their visit to LEADER! The students got to experience a bit of pioneer life - taking a scenic nature hike, drawing water from an old cistern, and even washing clothes on a washboard just like in the old days.
They enjoyed a picnic lunch and explored what life was like for early settlers. It was a day full of hands-on-learning, discovery, and adventure.
Our middle school summer school students had a great time at Dixon lake! The sun was shining, the fish were biting and the smiles were nonstop. What an incredible night-our 6th -8th graders had at the end- of-the- year Black and White Blowout! From games and a scavenger hunt to the photo booth and so much more the night was packed with fun. And thanks to a generous spread of snacks the energy never dipped.

There will be no basketball practice tonight as previously scheduled.
Students taking the Hunters Education course must attend all classes and take a written test and attend our Basic Skills session in order to receive their Missouri Heritage card. You must go through the lessons, you can not just show up on test day and take the test and receive your Heritage card. In order to attend the Basic Skills session you must have first went through the general knowledge lessons to be a participant in the Basic Skills session which will be May 15 at 9 AM. Don't forget about free physicals at Howell Valley school at 9 AM for those wanting to attend summer camps put on by West Plains.
We are excited to announce that Howell Valley will be offering the MDC Hunter Safety Education course during Summer School this year at Howell Valley free of charge to the 5th through 8th grade students that attend Summer School. This will consist of daily general knowledge lessons, a firearms skills training session, and a written test. A certification and a lifetime Hunter's safety license will be awarded to those who pass the test at the end of the course. The skills training is scheduled for May 15 at 9:00 AM. If your child wants to complete this course please adjust schedules to be in attendance during this skills session on May 15.

Had a fantastic time at our Family Reading Night! The kids loved diving into their favorite books, and taking AR quizzes. We were even lucky enough to have a special guest-Pete The Cat! What a purr-fect way to make reading even more fun. Thanks to everyone who attended and a big thank you to Pete The Cat!!
Due to the risk of severe weather and significant flooding, school will be canceled April 4th. In the event of a tornado warning Howell Valley FEMA shelter will be open to the public. Be safe everyone!
Third grade had a sweet time celebrating Pi Day with some delicious math enrichment. We explored the magic of Pi, tackled fun math problems, and got crafty with pie-themed activities!
Blast off! Our MAP Kickoff assembly was a sweet success-complete with rocket launches and popsicles! Here's to an exciting start to testing season.

There will be boys and girls 6-8th grade Track and Field practice tomorrow after school until 5:30 to make up the practice missed today. We will still have morning running for anyone that wants to come at 6:30 AM before school. Those that come into run in the morning will have time to shower. And those that need to shower after Track practice will have that opportunity as well.
