Due to potential inclement weather our HCAA 5-6th grade track championships may run ahead of schedule tomorrow. The first race will still be at 9:00 AM, but races and field events after that may not follow our timed schedule exactly. Thank you.

Howell Valley hasn't had a talent show in decades so we have brought it back for 2024. Jumpin' J and Jazzy Jenna kicked off hosting our show as emcees with their 80's throwback influencer, MC Hammer. Our students have showcased a lot of unique ways they can shine their talents from musical performances to game show trivia, Rubix cube speed solver, bottle flipping, magic acts, and skits. We had a great panel of judges who used a rubric of criteria looking for stage presence, preparedness, quality, creativity, and overall presentation. Our first year was a success and we'd like to congratulate our placing acts: first runner up-Anson Ford (piano) and second runner up-Landen and Liv Lamberson (the cup song)... And our 2024 winner- Judge Dixon (trumpet)!!

Early in the year, our 4th-grade class participated in the Every Kid Outdoors program through the Department of the Interior and National Parks Service. The students created a formal plan and in that plan, they pledged to take care of certain areas of the school. Recently they have been cleaning up the middle school hallways and picking up rocks and sticks off the playground. Way to go 4th grade!

The 7th and 8th grade classes traveled to Jefferson City to visit our Capital city. The first stop was the Missouri Highway Patrol Museum where students were warned about the dangers of impaired or distracted driving and taught about the difficult, yet rewarding job of being a law enforcement officer. Students left with a sense of the important role these individuals play in our society. Next, students traveled to the Capitol where they were treated to lunch provided by Representative David Evans and his staff. They toured the Capitol even getting to go to the top of the dome. Students were next given a lesson on what true justice is from Supreme Court Judge Paul Wilson at the Missouri Supreme Court, the oldest operating government building in Jefferson City. Finally, students were treated to ice cream from Central Dairy before returning home.
